Fish leeches are whitish worms several centimeters in length. After they detach, bloody marks can be observed on the fish‘s skin.
Description:
Leeches can be brought into the aquarium with newly-purchased fish and into the garden pond by water birds. They reach several centimeters in length and can be seen with the naked eye. Leeches attach themselves to the host fish to feed on its blood using suckers. They can transmit dangerous diseases when traveling from fish to fish.
How to cure:
Leeches can be removed with cotton wool dabbed in spirit.
